Culture Across The Global Afrodiaspora

FRED EBAMI

Pop Art On A New Level

Online, offline, in print, on screen, and offscreen our world is visually saturated. Nevertheless, the high impact artworks of Fred Ebami allow us to filter through to a new vision of 21st century modern art. Using mostly acrylic markers — on paper, canvas or objects — Ebami renders familiar images, cultural icons and text into impactful messages that give clear voices to Afrodiaspora global culture. He has quietly been able to fully master and present a much richer essence of what most of us thought we knew culturally and artistically — yet it can now be seen in a much high definition. As pictures do reflect thousands of words, Fred Ebami adds just a few select words in case we cannot or choose not to fathom the true meaning in his graphical messages. From Basquiat to Warhol to Xpayne and now Ebami, pop art is being pushed up a level. This is all good because pop art and street art are also among the best barometers of what's happening socially. Crossing over to music albums, CDs, websites, advertising, and product packaging may become the expanded canvas and mediums of this new generation of fine artists. DM    VIDEO►
